The Story.

I remember it like it was yesterday....

I was sitting in my little office at my first "real job" as a 20 year old, where I scheduled independent medical exams. One day my boss, who was always smiling, walked in but this time, straight-faced. Not typical of him. He stood for a few moments and then said to me, "Lori, I'm going to switch you with the receptionist to answer phones, and the receptionist is going to take over your position for a while, and we will see how it goes". Talk about humbling and embarrassing! Needless to say, I did not do well at that position either, and was eventually let go.
Here is the thing, It was a BIG blessing in disguise because I knew, in my heart of hearts, that I did not belong behind a desk of any kind.

Not long after, and always being a creative, I felt it was time to transition to a job where I could actually do what I love. A place where I could design and create. I took a job at Norwalk Furniture, where I was able to help homeowners choose custom furniture for their homes. It was here that I flourished. I was a top performing designer, considered for management and regularly asked to help clients with their entire homes. I remember one client specifically, who handed me her number and told me to call her when I started my own design business. She knew, before I did, that this was my true calling.

I've now owned my own Interior Design businesses for 22 years!

I tell you all of this to say... you too have a calling, and you are here because you have expressed interest in Interior Design.
